Third EU-CELAC Meeting
During 6th to the 8th of May representatives of various entities of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European Union held a meeting in Brasília. The aim purpose was to coordinate actions in order to perfect the research infrastructures of the countries member.
The event took place in the office of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNpq). The event is part of the three biregional programmed workshops in order to promote the discussion about the infrastructure politics, giving opportunity to the actions of the working group in EU-CELAC Research Infrastructures.
The main objective of the group is to align the politics in this area, promoting the integration of the infrastructures of Latin-America and the Caribbean with structures in research and innovation of the European Union.
Some of the planned activities are the development of the mapping of the regional research infrastructures and the construction of a website with the information about the institutions. So the researchers of both regions can take advantage of the existing infrastructures in these countries, promoting the international cooperation in research and technology.
Twelve country members of the region and seven of Europe joined the meeting. Also there were representatives of the Delegation of European Union in Brazil and Brussels. Claudia Romano was the person in representation of Uruguay and representing the liaison office to European Union.
In this opportunity, the CELAC participants agreed on a particular working plan which facilitates the infrastructure mapping, the elaboration of a website and the aspects of his visibility, just as outstanding measures for the relationship between both blocks.
